About Us
The Voice of the Toxicology Community in Ireland
The Irish Society of Toxicology (IST) was founded in 1985 and since then, we have served as
a representative of the Irish toxicology community on the national and international stage.
Our organisation aims to increase knowledge and awareness of toxicological issues facing society. Founded in 1985, the IST has over 100 active members from industry, academia and governmental agencies who are involved in toxicology-related activities. This diverse membership allows for contrasting perspectives on every issue and development in the field of toxicology.
Management and leadership of the IST is the responsibility of the Executive Committee, which is elected by the society members, and changes every two years.
The IST was a founder member of the Federation of European Societies of Toxicology (FEST) which was subsumed into the European Societies of Toxicology (EUROTOX). The IST is also a member of the International Union of Toxicology (IUTOX).
The IST hosts an annual scientific meeting and membership is open to anyone with an interest in toxicology.
